Yarlside Academy’s vision is for all pupils to lead healthy and fulfilling lives and to have the skills, knowledge and motivation necessary to equip them to lead a healthy, active lifestyle in both sport and physical activity for now and their future.

Here at Yarlside, we have a strong passion and sporting history for school PE and sport, with extensive participation in local community, county and national competitions, alongside non-competitive events, and festivals. The funding will be used to maintain our high standards within the PE curriculum and increase participation for all.

The PE and Sport Premium allocation for Yarlside Academy is £17,860 for the academic year 2025/26

Our objectives for the PE & Sport Premium funding is to continue the delivery of high quality PE, high standards and aspirations for all our pupils against these 5 key indicators:

To engage vulnerable, low self-esteem pupils in regular physical activity.
Continuing professional development of school staff to increase confidence, knowledge and skills.
Employ community coaches to deliver extra-curricular focused sessions to pupils in a wide range of sports.
Support our pupils with access to outdoor education centres.
To develop the range of extra-curricular PE and sport clubs with the aim of providing access for all.

Review and Impact on 2024-25 Funding

PE Sports Premium Funding for the Academic Year 2024-2025 was £18,160

Community coaches were employed to deliver additional after-school clubs and provide further opportunities for pupils to enhance curriculum delivery. Additional provision provided included, multi-skills sessions, fitness activities, Football Coaching, Rugby Coaching from Barrow Rugby and Karate. These were delivered both before and after school.
Clubs offered to support School Games competitions and increase the participation for the least active and transitional points with all year groups and abilities catered for.
New resources bought to support new curriculum areas being within PE.
Resources replenished to support PE lessons and after-school sporting clubs.
Website subscription renewed to support planning, delivery and assessment of curriculum PE.
PE staff attended network meetings to promote involvement in competitive and non-competitive events.
School involvement in competitive and non-competitive competitions increased which included local, county and national competitions.
‘Walk to School’ and ‘Big Walk and Wheel’ agenda promoted along with active travel through Street Tag to increase fitness levels within the local community outside of school hours.
Waterpark day visit for Year 3 subsidised to support experiences within Outdoor Education.
Transport provided to external events to ensure all children can access local and County competitions.
CPD delivered to all teaching staff to support the delivery of the curriculum
Every child from Year 1 to Year 6 represented the school in both competitive and non competitive sport
